There is no single way to immigrate to Canada. Although some programs are easier to apply for, the process can be lengthy and involve many steps.
Although it is not easy to move to Canada, it is well worth the effort. Canada is consistently ranked among the top countries in quality of life. It is also known for its positive attitude towards immigration.
These are the top four ways that overseas applicants can immigrate to Canada by 2022.
#1 - Express Entry
Express Entry is Canada’s most popular and fastest immigration program. Express Entry applicants can apply for permanent residence within six months.
Canada hopes to welcome half a million immigrants by 2025. A large portion of them will be through Express Entry.

Express Entry is a way to submit an online profile which will be scored by Canada's Comprehensive Ranking System. You must be eligible for one of Canada's three federal streams before you can submit an Express Entry profile. #2 - Provincial Nominee Programmes
Provinces continued to nominate foreign workers for permanent residence in Canada throughout the pandemic. Canada hopes to receive 117,500 immigrants via PNPs by 2025.
Canada's ten territories and provinces offer a variety of nominee programs. Each PNP has its own eligibility criteria. To be eligible for nomination, many PNPs require that you have a connection with the province. Some programs invite candidates from overseas purely on the basis of their ability to meet the province's labor market needs.
Each PNP has a different application processing time. PNP candidates are required to apply to Canada for permanent residence once they have been nominated. The processing time for the permanent residence application will vary depending on whether the Express Entry system is used by the PNP.
A PNP will usually cost the same as Express Entry. However, there may be additional fees depending on where you live. While some provinces do not charge fees to process PNP applications (for example, Ontario), others can charge as high as $1,500CAD.
#3 - Business immigration
A federal or provincial program for business immigration could make it easier to migrate to Canada if you have previous experience in managing or owning a business.

Can I Immigrate to Canada without a Job Offer?
No. No. Some Canadian immigration programs require that applicants have a Canadian job offer. However, there are many programs and options for foreign nationals who do not need a Canadian job offer. These are the two major immigration programs that don't require Canadian job offers.
1. Express Entry
Express Entry is responsible for welcoming more than 100,000 Canadians each year. You will likely not require a job offer if you apply for the Express Entry program. According to IRCC's Year End Report 2019, about 90% of Express Entry applicants were eligible to apply for permanent residency in Canada without having to accept a Canadian job offer.
Express Entry applicants must have sufficient work experience and education, along with language skills. You will not lose points if you do not receive an offer from a Canadian employer.
2. Provincial Nominee Programs, (PNPs),
Many Provincial Nominee Programs do not require you to have a job offer.
Some provinces like Saskatchewan will use points-based Expression of Interest (EOI), similar to Express Entry, to decide which candidates will be invited for nomination.
To fill certain labour market or demographic gaps, other provinces like Nova Scotia or Ontario will also invite candidates directly from Express Entry. This means that you can be invited to permanently settle in Canada by simply having an Express Entry profile.
Don't worry if you don't have a job offer and want to immigrate in Canada. You have many options to become a permanent resident.
What is a Permanent Resident?
Canadian permanent residents are citizens of other countries who have been granted permission to reside in Canada as permanent residents. A person who is granted permanent resident status can live and work anywhere in Canada. Canada offers many benefits to permanent residents, including access to health and social services, the ability to live, work and study anywhere in Canada and protection under Canadian law. After being a permanent resident for some time, permanent residents can apply to become Canadian citizens. Canadian permanent residents are not eligible to vote in Canadian elections.
What is a Citizen?
Canadian citizens enjoy many privileges and rights in Canada. Citizens are eligible for healthcare, social services and support as required by law. Citizens can live, work and study anywhere in Canada and have the right to vote in Canadian elections. Citizenship cannot be revoked, removed or modified. Canadian citizenship is automatically granted to all Canadian citizens who are born in Canada. Foreign nationals can also become naturalized Canadian citizens by following the proper process through Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC).
Can I Work Anywhere In Canada?
A Canadian permanent resident is a legal person who can legally live and work in Canada. A Canadian permanent resident must be obtained by a foreign national if they want to work in Canada. This authorization is usually in the form a Canadian work permit.
Can My Family Come to Canada with Me?
Some immigration programs allow foreign nationals to come to Canada along with their families. The immigration program will determine which family members are allowed to accompany a foreign national. Express Entry allows immigrants to include their spouses and dependent children in their application. However, they cannot include their parents. However, Canada has family sponsorship programs enabling Canadian citizens and permanent residents to sponsor their spouse or common-law partner, dependent children, and parents/grandparents.
